Celebrating 5 Years of Viva Coffee: A Journey of Passion, Partnership, and Family
As we celebrate our fifth anniversary at Viva Coffee, we’re taking a moment to reflect on the journey that brought us here – from an ambitious vision in 2019 to a thriving coffee business today. Looking back over these years, we feel immense gratitude for the community we’ve built, the loyal customers we serve, and the incredible partners who make Viva Coffee more than just a business. This milestone is not just a celebration of years; it’s a tribute to the relationships, dedication, and passion that define us.
Early Days: Lucas, with the help of his daughter Olivia, packs the very first samples to send to potential customers.
A Vision Realized: Bringing Specialty Coffee to Ireland
Viva Coffee started with a clear vision: to bring ethically sourced, specialty green coffee beans directly to Irish roasters. In the early days, many Irish roasters faced challenges with high costs, long lead times, and complex supply chains. Our founder, Lucas, saw an opportunity to make specialty coffee more accessible, sourcing directly from farmers and creating a seamless connection between the farms and the roasters who value their work. Today, our sourcing network spans seven partner farms in Brazil and beyond, providing quality coffee that’s sustainable, traceable, and ethically sourced.
Strong Partnership: Lucas and Humberto, friends since their school days, now work together to bring the finest coffee to Irish roasters.
Our Customers: The Heart of Viva Coffee
We wouldn’t be here without our incredible customers. From those who placed the first orders to those who’ve joined us along the way, your loyalty and trust inspire us every day. Working with you to bring carefully selected coffee to your customers is a privilege. Your dedication to quality and sustainability fuels our mission to keep improving, innovating, and elevating the coffee experience for everyone. Thank you for choosing Viva Coffee and for believing in what we do.
Commitment to Innovation and Quality: Carolina Alckmin, Fazenda Santo Antonio, shares our vision and is dedicated to pioneering innovation and sustainability at every stage of coffee cultivation and production.
Our Farm Partners: The Roots of Our Coffee Journey
Our journey began with a single farm partner in Brazil – a farm who trusted Lucas to bring their coffee to the Irish market. Over time, we’ve expanded this network, now working with multiple Brazilian farms and, more recently, farms around the world. But our partnerships go beyond coffee. These are relationships built on mutual respect, shared vision, and often a shared history that goes back generations. These farm partners make it possible for us to offer our customers an exceptional product, and we’re honoured to bring their hard work to your roasteries.
Generations of Experience: Adonis Cerri, Fazenda da Mata, has been dedicated to his family farm since childhood. Now well into his 80s, he remains an active figure on the farm, sharing invaluable knowledge with each visit.
A Family Endeavor
Finally, this five-year milestone wouldn’t be possible without the steadfast support of family. Viva Coffee isn’t just a company; it’s a testament to the passion, guidance, and commitment of those closest to us. Lucas’s father, with a lifetime in the coffee industry, has been a guiding force from the start, offering advice and connections with like-minded farm partners. Lucas’s brother, Paulo, has been with us since day one, investing time and effort into understanding our vision and working hard to build a strong brand that reflects this. And in 2023, Theresa, officially joined the team as COO, bringing her expertise, passion, and dedication to help us grow further. Together, they’ve supported this journey with unwavering belief and shared commitment.
Generations of Passion: My dad’s passion for coffee is unmatched. He has worked with nearly every farm in our region and beyond and still eagerly joins me on each farm visit.
Here’s to the Next Five Years
As we look to the future, we’re excited to continue growing, connecting, and working with you all. From expanding our network of farm partners to deepening our partnerships with customers, Viva Coffee remains committed to delivering the highest quality coffee while staying true to our values of sustainability, quality, and ethical sourcing.
Viva Origin Trips: These trips allow our customers to build connections with the farmers, gain insight into farm innovations in sustainability, and hand-select their green beans from the coming harvest.
Community Effort: This journey is a collective one – our farm partners, customers, and suppliers make it all possible, and we are deeply grateful for their trust and support. Viva!
Thank you for being part of this journey. Here’s to many more years of exceptional coffee, friendship, and shared success!
